A drop in diesel stockpiles has left the market in danger for steeper price spikes.

The potential for a sharp upward adjustment continues as diesel prices grow with the likelihood of demand becoming stronger.

Trucking’s main fuel source has climbed to 23.3 cents since the beginning of the new year, after shedding 12.1 cents from November 15th through January 3rd. The hike in price is the highest it has been since August 2014 – set at $3.846. Diesel now costs $1.108 more a gallon than at this time in 2021.
